                                                                           "Love Forms"

                                                                        by David R Moenich

Consider these types of love:

AGAPE:

Agape is considered to be the love originating from God or Christ for humankind. Cf. Matt 3:17, Mark 10:21. In the New Testament, it refers to the covenant love of God for humans, as well as the human reciprocal love for God; the term necessarily extends to the love of one's fellow man.[3] The word is not limited for religious use; agape can extend to sub-divine beings.

EROS:

God is very clear in his Word that eros love is reserved for marriage. Sex outside of marriage is forbidden. God created humans male and female and instituted marriage in the Garden of Eden. Within marriage, sex is used for emotional and spiritual bonding and reproduction.

PHILA:

Philia (/ˈfɪljə/ or /ˈfɪliə/Ancient Greekφιλία), often translated "brotherly love", is one of the four ancient Greek words for lovephiliastorgeagape and eros. In Aristotle's Nicomachean Ethics, philia is usually translated as "friendship" or affection.[1] The complete opposite is called a phobia

PLATONIC:

A type of love that is non-sexual. The term is named after Plato, who described a kind of love centered on same-gender relations and included sex which underwent a transformation during Renaissance (15th–16th centuries) to get its contemporary sense of asexual heterosexual love.

PRAGMA:

Pragma is also known as Pragmatic love or Enduring Love, such as truly, everlastingly loving a spouse.

STORGE:

Also called familial love, is the Greek word for natural affection, such as the love of a parent towards offspring and vice versa.

EXENIA:

(Greekξενίαxenía, trans. "guest-friendship") is the ancient Greek concept of hospitality, the generosity and courtesy shown to those who are far from home and/or associates of the person bestowing guest-friendship. The rituals of hospitality created and expressed a reciprocal relationship between guest and host expressed in both material benefits (such as the giving of gifts to each party) as well as non-material ones (such as protection, shelter, favors, or certain normative rights).

The above terms of various forms of love are of Greek origin.

NARCISSITIC love lacks need of discussion here as such is self-adoration.

PHILANTIA love is love of oneself merely because of their own existence.

Hence, the term PHILANTHIA meaning love of flowers.

GOD demands AGAPE love from US...unconditional love for Him, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit, as He has that same love for us

He also wants us to show and live that same type of love for our spouses, our  families, our friends, and our neighbors...and to

strangers as well.

Eros love has it's place...but only within marriage. Remember, God created sexual pleasure but only for the married.

Anything other than that is immorality.

"He who does not love does not know God, for God is love."   I John 4:8

God has said: 'I will never leave you nor forsake you'
THAT IS AGAPE LOVE!
